More Videos and Photos of the Aerial Surveys July 6 & 7, 2010

Here are some more videos and some photos of the aircraft that was conducting aerial surveys between East-Aldfield/Duclos and Thorne, QC between July 4 and July 8, 2010.

Videos

Video 1: The first one is a fairly close up view of the aircraft. The "four corner wiring" is very clear. The sounds of the birds are barely audible underneath the roar of the engines. This is just after 7:00 AM - so the aircraft is impossible not to notice.

Video 2: The second one is further away from the plane but if you look carefully at the beginning you'll see a loon and another bird flying at the bottom left of the screen, perhaps frightened. The background sounds are birds that have been awake since about 4:30 AM and are busy going about their days. Again, this video was shot just after 7:00 AM. As the plane flies you may notice a very small white object being towed below and slightly behind the plane (visible most clearly from about 9 seconds into the video). This may be a camera.

Video 3: The third and final video of this series again shows very clearly the "four corner wiring" and the ease with which the pilot is able to steer the plane at such low altitude. The birds are much more noticeable at the beginning of the video and completely drowned out by the end. While quite similar to the first video, this was actually at least the second pass on this trajectory.

Photos

Here are some photos of the same aircraft from July 6, 2010 at about 7:00 AM. These photos were taken at the same location as the videos above.

Photo 1: The first photo is of the airplane as it approaches.

In this high resolution version of the same shot if you look at the very bottom of the frame you can see two objects in tow - a white one and an orange one (~4.1 MB):

Photo 2: The second photo is of the airplane with the Fugro logo clearly showing and a white object being towed behind the airplane. This may be a camera.

In this high resolution version of the same photo you can zoom in to see the aircraft and logo much more clearly (~4.7 MB):

Photo 3: The third photo is of the same Fugro plane with two objects visible in tow - a white one and an orange one.

The same photo in high resolution lets you zoom in a bit more on the plane and the objects in tow (~4.74 MB):
